We believe that our goldens should be a
family member and participate in family activities. We
are a family who loves Goldens. My husband Nick, and our daughter Amy, help me as it "takes a pack"
to raise puppies. Raising puppies is very labor
intensive and not for the faint of heart, however, the
rewards are truely golden. We are members in good standing with the Golden Retriever Club of America. www.GRCA.org . We also are membersof the Purina Breeder's organization and
we register our dogs with the American Kennel Club. |

We raise one or two litters of puppies each year. We breed for excellence, temperment and conformation. We raise loving, sweet family Goldens. We expect prospective puppy parents to be devoted, knowledgeable, and spend time with their Golden, even after their cute puppy has grown into an adult. Goldens absolutely need to be with their humans on a daily basis. We require that our puppies live in the house with their new family. Goldens require a great deal of attention and thrive when they get their daily dose of attention. Goldens are not the breed for you if you are looking for a "backyard" dog or if your philosphy is "dogs belong outside". Golden Retrievers cannot live up to their potential without personal one on one attention. To avoid any misunderstanding and primarily for the protection and safety of our puppies, we have a contract that we ask you to sign at the time you adopt one of our puppies.
In our contract...
- We identify all parties involved including a description of the dog and what is expected from both sides..
For the new owners we....
- provide the dam's health clearance numbers for OFA, PennHip and CERF provide first and second vaccinations, worming and all pups are certified healthy in writing by a licensed veterinarian
- temperament and health guarantee
- provide a 5 generation pedigree
- complete instructions for proper care of your Golden puppy and we send with every puppy a familiar toy, sample food and treats and other extras, i.e., first collar and food bowl
- offer lifelong support for questions regarding training, grooming or problem solving
provide limited AKC registration
- Offer lifetime "baby sitting" for your Golden
And we want you to......
- stay in contact with us, let us and the registry know when you move, and tell us about any genetic disease or disorder the dog exhibits during its lifetime
- allow your dog to live in your home, as a participating family member and will sleep indoors
- provide proper training using positive reinforcement methods and to properly socialize the dog to people, other dogs and children as the pup grows up
- provide proper maintenance, grooming and regular health care, including vaccinations and heartworm prevention
- treat the dog humanely and allow us to check occasionally
- provide supervison around children (and never let children tease or abuse the dog)
- never resell, give up to a shelter, give away or otherwise place the dog in another home without permission. You must return the dog to us should you be unable to keep it for ANY reason. (We want to be sure he's not passed from home to home or ends up in a shelter unwanted)
- accept limited AKC registration ("limited" means the dog can be shown in obedience, junior handling, etc. but not conformation and it may not be bred)
- never use abusive training methods
- spay/neuter by 6-8 months of age
- return the dog to us should you not be able to keep it for ANY reason... we promise not to judge, we realize life has a way of throwing us unexpected curves sometimes
- have your veterinarian give the pup a health check as soon as you bring it home and maintain a vaccination schedule so the pup will be fully immunized
- provide a securely fenced area or walk the dog on-leash and NOT allow it to run free unsupervised
- provide proper care and supervision during vacations. We request that you contact us and allow us to "babysit" while you are on vacation or any situation where you need temporary care of your Golden
- use proper care when leaving the dog in a vehicle
-
Also: Should the dog be obtained by false pretenses, is cruelly treated, or if any other provisions in the contract are not abided by, we can retake possession of the dog immediately without any compensation to you.
We realize this is tough. We love our puppies. We do not want any of our dogs messed up or mistreated in any way.
We want to be able to rescue our dogs out of any bad situation and a contract is the only way we would be able to do this. We know that if you truely love your Golden,
you are going to do all these things anyway and we thank you for understanding.
